NHK World Direct Talk interview (2016) with Dr. Genshitsu Sen, Grand Master XV of the Urasenke Tradition of Tea. Chado, the Way of Tea, is one of Japan’s most time-honored traditional arts and it is the heart of the UIUC Japan House. Dr. Sen shares his worldview, “peacefulness through a bowl of tea,” and how he has dedicated his life to share this message from his experience of being assigned to the Tokushima kamikaze unit in 1945. Dr. Sen was awarded an Honorary Degree from University of Illinois in 2007 for his generous gifts of support for Japan House and his promotion of world peace.
